Earlier this month was the deadline for cities across the country to put their bids in for Amazon’s HQ2. Over 200 applications are up for review and one of the front runners in the bidding war is Boston.
What Boston Can Offer Amazon
The city of Boston offers just about every condition Amazon wants met, including reliable public transportation, a large industrial space in which to build their multi-million dollar campus, a young, educated labor force centered on technology and a diverse culture. Mayor Marty Walsh proposed a number of locations throughout the city of Boston, all of which are capable of housing the estimated 50,000 new jobs.
The Potential Issues of a Boston Amazon HQ2
Although no city in their right mind would refuse billions of dollars in investment, it’s important to take into account the influx of individuals that would need housing, public transportation and other resources. It’s possible to fit 50,000 individuals in the greater Boston area but it will take a massive amount of communication and cooperation from all involved, from the local government to local building contractors as well as local businesses such as moving companies and Real estate agencies.
At Mastodon Moving, we’ve been helping individuals and families in the greater Boston area move into their new space since 2011.
