How to Throw a 4th of July Get Together

Independence Day weekend has finally arrived and if you’ve decided last minute to have an outdoor BBQ for friends and family, then you’re probably scrambling to get your house in order to house a bunch of people.

We understand that it’s important to make a good first impression on arriving guests; you want to make sure the house is tidy and festive. If you’re looking for a few quick tips on how to throw a last-minute 4th of July party, look no further because our professional movers happen to have a few ideas.

  • Lawn Games. Bring out the fun for adults and kids with a few lawn game options. We’re particularly partial to Ring Toss, Kan Jam, and Corn Hole, but there’s also Badminton and Volley Ball (if you have the yard space).
  • Patriotic Food and Drink. It’s all about the Red, White, and Blue on Independence Day weekend! If you don’t have the time to make all of the food yourself, make your gathering a potluck and challenge guests to bring patriotic-colored food and beverages. There are so many ideas out there and a large selection of red and blue-colored drinks!
  • Sparklers. If you can get your hands on them (perhaps a guest from New Hampshire or Rhode Island can bring these along), sparklers are a wonderful way to celebrate America’s independence. Be sure to take precautions and assist young children.
  • Upgrade Porch and Patio Furniture. This weekend there are so many sales going on and there’s bound to be a handful of great deals on porch and patio furniture and grill sets. Check out Didrik’s in Newton, Pier 1 Imports in Brookline, or Seasons Four in Lexington for some great discounts on table sets, lounge seating and more.

Don’t forget to wear your Red, White and Blue this 4th of July and have a safe and wonderful holiday weekend.
